I’ve read this in the newest Empire – it’s their proposal for the title of the XMen: First Class sequel. I shall now forever refer to the film as such ;-)

Speaking of comic book films, I did see The Avengers, and while I wasn’t quite as blown away by it as most of the other people whose reactions I’ve come across (Why would Thor or the Hulk following Captain America’s orders? Who were the villains? What was Loki’s deal? I need to know these sort of things, not having to fanwank them!), it was great fun.

What’s even better fun are the Avengers kink meme communities. I’ve been hanging around them gorging myself on fic for the last few days. There are so many pairings I’m actually interested in reading that my brain is in a happy meltdown: Thor/Hawkeye! Thor/Loki! Thor/Bruce! Thor/Steve! Thor/Natasha! Thor/Tony! Thor/all of the above! (as I’ve pointed out to [livejournal.com profile] fififolle I have a type – an undefeated long-haired warrior desperate to reunite with his “brother”, and since Gannicus seems to be unficable, thank Asgard for Thor).

There is nothing quite like reading the about the god of thunder announcing proudly: “I have used the internet and the google!”

it will certainly make for an interesting topic of discussion on May 19, if we really do manage to meet in London :D we love taking the movie apart and analyzing it in detail.

however, I believe that the whole scene where Cap is the one separating Thor and Iron Man in the beginning is the setup for why Thor would follow him. Thor may be a great warrior and leader in his own right, but I think for Avengers, where they have also entirely human heroes, Cap is the better choice. Like Tony said, they're not soldiers, and Steve gets that. He's a lot more levelheaded and less stubborn (traits which were worse in Thor during Thor but in that fight with Iron Man they came through again nicely), he's got the moral compass pointing to true north, he's a strategist which Thor isn't - at least not to this extent. I think Thor is used to dealing with physical power, battling on straight-forward, and sometimes he's less than a team player. Cap is good at using every one of his people's strengths and coordinating them.

And he's got seniority at SHIELD ;P

Oh yes, I'm looking forward to the next weekend! I'll pm you my mobile number, so we can arrange the exact time and place. I strongly suggest Haagen Dazs on Leicester Square as a great meeting venue, but it does get crowded, so I'm open to any other ideas :-)

ahm, I've never been *to* London (stopovers and that one night spent at a hostel before catching a train north don't count) so I have no idea what's a good place to meet. Häagen Dasz sounds good, as would be a Starbucks. (what I wouldn't give for a Stonecold Creamery *sobs*)

We're also meeting up with another couple of girls - we hopefully have tickets for The Avengers on the 18th. no idea if these two would stick around on the 19th as well.

I'll be able to use my data plan so any internet-based communication is preferred ;) I'm on Twitter if you have one, I also have old-school ICQ on my cellphone, and Skype messaging.
