melusinahp! Have a wonderful year!
I've finally got to watch Lawless. It's one of those films that really should have subtitles, because I honestly had no idea what everyone was saying most of the time. Which led to me not understanding what was going on most of the time, especially since I also had trouble telling secondary and tertiary characters apart with all the grime they were covered in... So yeah, I can't form an opinion on the quality of the film. What I can say is that it was very brutal (lots of wince and look away scenes); and it also had one laugh out loud moment (Tom Hardy's awesome line and delivery). Mostly I was just sitting there wondering where I knew the actor who played Cricket from (IMDB tells me it's Chronicle, thank you IMDB), and marvelling at Tom Hardy's beauty.
BTW, Tom Hardy's character was NOT acting like the mum of the group, at all. He was in charge, sure, and he did wear cardigans all through the film, but he was not displaying any maternal instincts that I could see. I feel cheated ;-)
