I have to say I love the one day-one episode way this season of Torchwood is being aired. Talk about instant gratification ;-) As for the plot, I'm enjoying it all right. I loved the doctor, too bad he turned out evil and then got shot. I like Jack's daughter; and Ianto's sister is cracking me up, as well as his brother-in-law. The best bit in the first episode had to be the short scene when the doctor was talking about people's reactions to the fact aliens proved to be real. Very interesting, almost like proper sf ;-) The best bit in the second ep was of course Rhys, though I have to say I actually liked Gwen in it too, mostly in her scenes with Rhys. They should always be together from now on :nods:
In other TV related news, I've finished the second season of Burn Notice this weekend. I love that show, and it seems to love me back - in the 14th episode of the second season there was a parkour chase scene! A proper one, with a roll, a wall run, precision jumps, a cat leap and a kong! I've been researching like mad trying to see who did the stunts, but so far I haven't found anything. I did, however, learn that Gabrielle Anwar, who plays Fiona, has three kids. That... blows the mind.
Aside from TV shows, I've seen a couple of films recently that reminded me why I love cinema so much. One was Franklyn, a wonderfully dark and convoluted tale, with amazing cityscape and awesome music. I have to get that one on bluray, once it gets cheaper.
Another one was Bronson, an indie/artsy film about a violent prisoner. Tom Hardy blew me away with his performance, particularly since the bonus features included an audio intro by the real Bronson, and he sounded exactly the way Tom played him. It was almost eerie. I need to keep my eye out for more of Tom's work.

Date: 2009-07-08 10:34 pm (UTC)oooh, Burn Notice! I love how they were able to keep the basic idea of a burnt agent helping strangers, without having many resources other than his two friends, even while the storyline progressed.
2x14 has been a while... I should re-watch now with my heightened parkour-awareness ;)
IMDB only says Dean Grimes and Artie Malesci, but we all know how reliable that site is.

Date: 2009-07-09 04:22 pm (UTC)As for Burn Notice, you're right, its overall arch is working out surprisingly well. Though I have to say that some of the client of the week plots are getting weaker, probably because there are only so many ways to con people. Still, it's by far the best TV show currently on!
Do check out ep 2.14 - the parkour is at the very end, when Michael tries to catch Victor and fails miserably.
As for the stuntman, I was trying to find out his name to check what else he's been working on, but I suppose the main thing here is that there is a working stuntman in the States who knows parkour, so chances are it will be popping up more frequently. We do have one Yamakasi trained guy working as a stuntman in the UK, and so I was stuck watching "Demons" (a horrible show) just to see his moves :-)

LOL I guess watching a show for its stuntman is even worse than watching a movie for an actor that has like, 5 words to say. but still we do it.
