Happy New Year, f-list! Also, Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] lizardspots (in case I'll be too hung over to post tomorrow :-)).

For the last week I have been mostly hanging around the newly-created [livejournal.com profile] banlieue_13. It's so wonderful, [livejournal.com profile] sunisshiningnow did all the hard work with the layout and the graphics, and all I have to do is obsess over the film with like-minded people :-)

And speaking of obsess, that article on why David movements are so amazing has been posted to http://www.misterparkour.com/. Here's fanboy-speak for what a fangirl would have put much more succinctly as: OMG! He's so freaking perfect!

What is so incredible about David’s movements at :54 of Episode 5 is his dexterity and range of motion (also shown in his window perched position in :58 of Episode 15). These are signs of the dynamic tension he has achieved in his muscles. Dynamic tension is the perfect state of muscular equilibrium, where every muscle is proportionally strong in correlation to every other muscle in the body. Not having dynamic tension (also known as having a lack of muscular integrity) creates unnecessary tension in the body, and pulls the joints into an improper alignment causing the body to move compensatively and inefficiently.[...]David’s body has been trained into a perfect functional state characterized by this dynamic tension which is why he is able to do what he does.

LOL!

Oh, and my Babylon A.D. bluray has arrived. The European cut of the film is so much better than the version they showed in cinemas here. Unfortunately the editing of the nightclub scene has not improved :-( There are, however, a few behind the scenes featurettes that show the action in a less confusing manner. Turns out that the fight with sister Rebecca was pretty awesome, with the traceurs moving around her punches like phantoms (or as if she were a moving obstacle, heh). At one point, for example, she tries to punch David and he does a side cartwheel and lands right back on his feet. Too bad in the film all you can make out of this entire sequence is Michelle swinging her bag around...

Oh, man, I'm still learning and wouldn't feel comfortable with that just yet. I would if I could. Sorry!
