aren't there more Sadist!Draco stories?!? After all Draco is one of the not that many, actually, characters whose sadistic tendencies are right there in canon. Whom does the sight of tortured animals give a boner? Draco! "It was Draco Malfoy. He had pushed to the front of the crowd, his cold eyes alive, his usually bloodless face flushed, as he grinned at the sight of the hanging, immobile cat." (CoS) Who's all aquiver in anticipation of seeing someone Cruicioed? Draco! "Malfoy was watching her with a hungry expression on his face." (OotP) Who is immediately beloved by a masochistic house-elf like Kreacher and strongly disliked by a weirdly not masochistic house-elf like Dobby? Draco! (HBP) So where oh where is all the Sadist!Draco fic?!? Why people instead go against canon and make Draco submissive?!? WHY?!?

Oh well, hopefully with the re-appearance of pornish_pixies (BTW, big YAY about that) I'll get my share of sadistic Draco. It's such a great place for pervy fic :-)

Once again, I have to say... you really know canon! And you're right...fanfic writers tend to make him submissive. Maybe the idea is that Draco secretly fantasizes about being dominated?

I haven't read tons of fic myself, but one story I can think of with sadistic!Draco is Still the Sun by Emma Grant.

Ooh, thanks for the rec! I've been jonesing for a sadistic Draco fix for weeks!

As for the multitude of submissive Draco fic, I think the most probable cause is that most writers tend to base their characterisation on fanon rather than canon, and so they just repeat one after another what they've read in other stories :sigh:

In my H/D fics, I usually have Draco as more knowledgeable about sex, and usually being the one who initiates it the first time. Then later, he allows Harry to know that he really wants to be dominated. I don't know why this is- it may just be fanon influence, as you suggest. But I do have notes for a fic where Draco takes revenge on Harry in a very sadistic and humiliating manner, so - we'll see!

Ha, I'm sort of embarrassed to write it. But I probably will at some point. It's a sequel to Bruised, featuring sadistic!Harry, which I don't know if you've read.

By the way, if you're still shipping Lucius/Draco, thepinkrabbit is writing a lengthy series of drabbles/short fics featuring this pairing. I haven't read them as I don't generally read anything but H/D, but you might want to check out her LJ.
