this and that

I haven't updated in forever, mostly because I try to keep this journal to fannish things, and there was just nothing going on worthy of reporting. I wish I would get involved in a huge fandom again :sigh: All my recent tries have failed, though, for one reason or another:

• Inception - love the film, love Tom Hardy, love the character of Eames, but I cannot read Eames/Arthur. Arthur doesn't have a shred of personality in the film, and all the fandom fawning over JGL just turned me off completely.

• Hawaii 5-0 - again, I love Steve, but cannot stand the other half of the pairing. I could get over how annoying Danny is, perhaps, but the fact Scott Caan is the size of a sitting dog is a deal-breaker. I mean, when Steve and Danny stand close to one another it doesn't even look like they're the same species. Ewww.

• XMen First Class - both Xavier and Eric are awesome characters, and I find them both hot, but when I get into a pairing I need to be able to like both the character and the actor, and in the case of Michael Fassbender that's not possible. Not after his ex-girlfriend's accusations of abuse at his hands.

So yeah, I'm sticking to my tiny niche fandoms for now. Unless... does anyone have a big fandom rec? :is desperate:

In other news, I have recently re-watched Twin Peaks. It still is a lot of fun, although I have to admit some of the treatment of women in the series made my feminist hackles rise. Also ( cut for spoilers )

Next I'll have to get my hands on The Pretender and rewatch that.
