czeriYAY! "The Patriot"'s going to be on tonight! (Why, yes, I do own it on DVD, your point?) I'll end up drooling all over the TV, I just know it. Tavington is just SO HOT. With those narrowed grey eyes and the cruel smile and the sword and the guns and the horse and the voice and, and, and even the ridiculous uniform! In fact, when I showed the film to my friend Agata for the first time, she pointed out that even the way Tavington bleeds is sexy :-)
It's interesting, BTW, that Jason Isaacs' eyes were the proper Malfoy pale grey colour in the Patriot but remained stubbornly blue in Harry Potter, isn't it? Hmm, wonder if Jason has any control over it or whether his eyes just do what they want... ;-)
Incidentally "The Patriot" is my backstory of choice for the Malfoys. I like to imagine a young ambitious wizard from an old pureblood family, who, after his inheritance had been squandered by his late father, decided to swallow his pride and offer his services to the Muggle king, helping him earn the nickname "The Conqueror"... It makes sense that the land he'd pick for himself in his new home country would be in Wiltshire, permeated as it is with powerful ancient magic. And now his portrait is hanging in the Great Hall in Malfoy Manor but unfortunately none of his descendants is fluent enough in Old French for him to lend his invaluable advice on the best ways to kill large numbers of Muggles in short time...
