Thorsday!
I’d like to take some time to appreciate Thor’s subterfuge skills. Sure his preferred way of action is as direct as possible, but if that’s not an option he certainly doesn’t seem to have much trouble switching gears.
A great example of what I mean is when he manages to sneak unnoticed out of the hospital, grabbing a pair of pants on his way, despite having been restrained after the fit he’d pitched the previous night.

Then we have the scene in the diner when Jane is badgering him with all sorts of questions. Thor pretends not to hear her, but when that doesn’t discourage her check out how efficiently he changes the subject. Only when he realises he will need Jane’s help to get to Mjolnir does he reveal that yes, he was in fact paying attention to what she’s been saying all along.

On the ride to the crater he mentions how he’s been infiltrating enemy camps “many times”, which certainly shows when he easily slips into the SHIELD’s installation's perimeter. Too bad his exit strategy doesn’t take into account the possibility of Mjolnir staying grounded.

Then we have the scene with Loki, in which Thor’s reaction to Loki telling him the peace with Jotunheim is conditional on Thor’s exile is: “Yes, but couldn’t we find a way…”
And finally there’s the moment when he reassures his friends that he has a plan to defeat the Destroyer to get them to leave, so that they’d be safe when he goes to his death.

So yeah, for a guy that seems to be the epitome of the smash things first, ask questions later philosophy Thor really is surprisingly crafty.

He definitely is, and I think part of the 'smash things first' impression is owed to the contrast to Loki among whose many qualities straighforwardness is not even listed ;-D
