things that made me laugh this weekend

So, the ending of the American Life on Mars - way to take things literally, eh? I mean, Gene Hunt? Seriously? But you do have to give it to the writers - no one has seen that coming :-) Also, it was a nice surprise to see Dean Winters again. Just like it was a nice surprise to see him in The Terminator :-)

From the one thousand things to do before you die category - on Saturday I danced the tango in Dr Marten's boots in a tango club "The Crypt." I'm proud to say I haven't crippled anyone, even though it was the first time I've ever danced (or attempted to, really ;-)), but that's mostly thanks to the fact I had a brilliant partner.

Oh, and Kiss of the Dragon was on yesterday. There's a moment there when Cyril's character is gleefully watching the surveillance footage of a hooker entertaining some dude, which made me snicker because the hooker happened to be wearing a black wig awfully reminiscent of the one Damien was wearing in B13U :-)

And in somewhat related news, I came across the footage of David and his flock let loose in Madagascar, with a moment that just begged for a caption. So I present to you the first ever LOLtraceurs (hey, they did a lot of cat leaps in the video):

OMG you danced the tango??? Argentine style? In London? I am SO jealous. I've always wanted to be one of those gorgeous women in fishnets with mile-long legs, killer heels, and a snazzy dress who can do all those lovely turns and pauses. Sadly, I think it would take more than an expert partner to transform me!

On a somewhat related note, I've always wondered whether David and Cyril can dance. Surely they'd be good at it, seeing as they actually have coordination and fitness and all that stuff. Hmm... Now I'm picturing Damien undercover at a milonga in a dark striped suit, meeting Leito in a jaunty fedora, and them doing an awesome manly tango like this. The tango actually started as a dance for (straight) men anyway. It would be like the roof fight without punching and so help me, I'd love to see that in a sequel LOL!

That's my cousin, and since it was her birthday, she dragged me to the club where her teachers and their other students hang out and dance. And then she lent me her partner, who leads brilliantly enough for me to have been able to do something akin to dancing ;-)

Ooh, yes, my tango-obsessed cousin has been showing me a lot of the Macana brothers videos. She also says that during tango lessons their teacher is dancing with guys all the time to show them how to lead particular moves.

As for Damien and Leito I have no doubt they could do a killer tango. I'm not so sure Leito would ever wear a fedora, though. Not after seeing the murderous look on his face when a cop dared to touch his hair while arresting him in B13U :-)

That would be nice, though frankly I'd prefer them to fight. I, erm, kinda like it when they bleed...
