Breakout days 1 and 2

Finally a few free hours with access to internet, so here's a rundown of the first two days of the Breakout convention.

It started after 8 p.m. on Friday with the opening ceremony followed by the meet and greet. I barely made it to the hotel in time since I managed to take the wrong bus and finally had to call a cab to get me where I needed to go. Once I did get to registration it turned out I was the very last person to buy a ticket. That would have been cooler if not for the fact that I was told only the first 150 people would get the chance to meet the guests. Luckily the organisers changed their minds in the end and let everyone stay, but that resulted in a lot of tables for the guests to share between them. Therefore, in the hour I had before I needed to rush out to catch the last bus home, I've only met Francis Capra. I did have the best spot, though, because he sat right next to me and I not only got a close-up view of those impossible eyelashes, but I also got to snuggle up to him at one point :-)

Francis is adorable, BTW. He was stressing about not revealing too much about his part in "Heroes", and yet managed to blab quite a lot because everyone kept asking him tricky questions. So for those into "Heroes" - apparently he's a supervillain with superpowers (which he's only learnt during the audition from one of the producers and his reaction was pretty much: "No way! Let me read again, then!"), his character "has a future", he's finished filming his third episode, and he's been working a lot with Milo. That last bit I know because Francis wouldn't shut up about how great and multi-talented Milo is. Francis sounds seriously smitten, heh.

Ryan and Jason I only saw from afar, when they were introduced during the opening ceremony. The awesome thing, though, is that Ryan seems to be exactly like Dick - he's got the hair-do and the mannerisms, and when he was called to the stage, he ran to the microphone and asked "So who here likes Dick?" and then flashed this winning smile when everyone started cheering ;-)

Jason was shy, as usual, and that's the only thing I registered about him because I was majorly distracted by what he was wearing - a high-quality white T-shirt that was showing off his amazing pecs and beautiful arms in a downright pornographic way :drools:

The second day started off with a photo session. I got a picture with Jason, Ryan and Francis separately, the better to be able to snuggle up to each one of them, but I was seriously tempted to do some mix'n'match for potential slash. Naturally the photos turned out great except for the bit with me :sigh: In the one with Francis I inexplicably look terrified as he's hugging me, which is weird because what was going through my head was "OMG! I can actually feel Weevil's stubble against my face!" and not "Officer! The scary tattoed man is assaulting me!"

The next point of business were the guest talks. I saw Francis first - he revealed that he's a complete video game addict ("Warcraft" if I remember correctly); it was a stuntman riding the bike in "Veronica Mars" because he hadn't even had a licence back then; he'd only ever attended one acting class and fell asleep in it; and he doesn't actually speak Spanish. He also spoke a lot about what great an actor Jason is, and was saying the funniest things about him, eg. how Jason was never in a fight: "It's true, you can ask him. He'll stare at you for 30 seconds and then say the same thing." (He was wrong: Jason only stared for 5 seconds before confirming it later on.) And when Francis was talking about how he once went in a boat whale-watching and a whale tried to kill him, someone from the audience asked if maybe the whale was just trying to capsize the boat to get him in the water to play with, to which Francis said: "Yeah, it's like when Jason wants to play with me. He's so much bigger than me." ;-)

After a break Jason and Ryan took to stage. The slashy highlight was when they were asked who they'd want to be for a day if they could and Ryan's answer was "Brad Pitt" while Jason's was "Angelina" ;-) Other than that Jason said that the "Moonlight" cancellation came completely out of the blue, and that it might not yet be a 100% sure thing. That was why he didn't want to reveal too much about what the writers had thought up for the second season, he only said there was going to be more about the history and hierarchy of vampires and the various bloodlines.

I only asked two questions: how much Ryan was in Dick (because as I say, Ryan is so much like Dick it's uncanny - he constantly strikes weird poses and flashes disarming smiles) - apparently a lot; and since Jason was so vocal about his admiration for Ryan Gosling last year, which young actor he'd like to work with. I'm pathetic, I admit, because the whole time I was staring at Jason thinking "Say 'Ben Foster'. Say 'Ben Foster'." Jason resisted my attempts at telepathy and started gushing over "Lars and the real girl". Just as I've lost hope and gave up the microphone, however, he added: "Oh, and Ben Foster!" SCORE! BEHOLD MY AWESOME PSYCHIC POWERS!

And to make things even better, it seemed I was transmitting room-wide, because then some woman asked: "You know when Ben Foster was in "XMen"? If it were you, what talent would you want to have?" Jason had shaken off my mental hold by then and said Wolverine's was the best, but Ryan wanted to fly. Which he then realised was what Angel could do, so he ended up giving me this soundbite: "I just want to be Ben Foster."

Heh, with such encouragement I'm not sure how I will manage to resist some Ben Foster gushing tomorrow when Ryan, Jason and Francis will be speaking together. I just have to figure out a way to turn it into a question :ponders:

Hee! I know, right? But I do suspect Jason's answer had far more to do with Ben's awesomeness being well-known around Hollywood than with my questionable Leglimency ;-)
