I went to see Jason Isaacs in "The Dumb Waiter" today!!!! The play is hilarious, and both actors (the other one being Lee Evans, who's apparently a famous comedian) are quite good, so it was loads of fun. Unfortunately the whole thing lasts for only an hour, which was disappointing as I hoped for more quality Jason time.

I had a pretty decent seat - dead center and only six rows away from the stage, which allowed me to see everything that was going on. Not that I actually paid any attention to Lee monkeying on his side of the stage, mind you. Not when I could raptly watch Jason lying on the bed reading a newspaper and occasionally giving a long-suffering sigh at Lee's antics :-) (It was literally all that Jason did for the first 15 minutes or so, but believe me, it was a grippng performance ;-) ). He sure makes up for the initial inactivity later on, though - as he's playing an assassin, he gets to strangle the other guy, beat him up, bully him around mercilessly, play with a gun, lick a gun, put on a holster, and other such fun stuff. And all that while wearing sexy glasses and a goatee! I was melting!!!

It turned out that [livejournal.com profile] nqdonne and two of her friends, whom I sadly don't know, came to see the same show I did, so we've met after it was over and talked some about HP. Then [livejournal.com profile] nqdonne and I went for a nice dinner and talked some more. She had to go home afterwards, however, and since I was determined to meet Jason after the evening show, I killed the remaining time by seeing "Notes on a Scandal" (which is a brilliant movie, BTW, I heartily recommend it).

When the film ended it was finally 9, so I rushed back to the theatre to stake out the stage door. There were only a handful of people there at first, but soon there gathered quite a crowd. Luckily, though, half of them were after Lee Evans, so it wasn't hard to get to Jason. I was, in fact, the first person to get an autograph from him :preens: That's right, JASON ISAACS HELD MY PEN! And he used it to sign my program!!! ( I did have HBP with me but I figured it'd be kinda silly to ask him to sign a book on a completely not-HP-related occasion. He is an actor, after all, not a writer...) And here's proof!

(Grr, ok, so picture spam didn't work. Have a link, then.)

Isn't he the most gorgeous man ever?! And he was so nice and funny. He signed everything anyone pushed his way, and was taking pictures with whoever asked (I preferred to take pictures of him alone, though, because as photogenic as I am I just know that I would have to cut myself out of the frame later on anyway ;-) ).

If anyone lives near London and wants to meet him, you can easily do so by showing up at the stage door of Trafalgar Studios (just off Trafalgar Square) at around half nine in the next several weeks (I think the play runs for seven weeks altogether). I got another ticket for March 6th (this time row A and seat just in front of Jason's part of the stage :squee:) and I surely will wait to meet him again then. He's just so nice, and I hope by then I'll have time to practice asking various interesting questions, which should prevent me from becoming as hopelessly tongue-tied as I did today.

So, what did you do on Saturday? :-)
