I don't think I've ever recced a story before, but this one is so good I just have to. It's Archipelago by
wideworldsend. It's officially Ron/Draco, but do not be put off by the pairing, as it'd be more accurately described as a brillian gen fic with a sex scene added at the end. Just do like I did and ignore said ending (Draco bottomed, bleh).
What's brilliant about the fic is that it shows an original and highly believable vision of the world after the war, with wonderful details like crup races, or what S.P.E.W. might develop into, that one rarely finds in fanfic. It also has hilarious dialogues and Draco's inner monologues that had me laughing at my computer like a crazy person :-) In short it's one of the best HP fics I've ever read.
Here's a teaser:
Several different things to say ran through Draco's head at once, including Thank you, Piss off and Your sense of timing is impeccable. In the end, though, when he threw open the great front doors of the Manor for the man standing on his front stoop, the first thing to come out of his mouth was, "Why aren't you melting?"
Ron blinked at him. "Well, I reckon I'd stain my clothes, for starters."
In unrelated news, Channell 4 is repeating "Scars" tonight!!! I've gushed about it when it originally aired here. I still don't own any recording equipment to preserve its brilliance, but at least I'll get to watch it again. I can hardly wait!
