I've been reading Norman Davies' "God's Playground" recently, because history's fun, though a lot of the enjoyment I'm getting from the book is entirely unintended. You see, for some reason in the entire book Piłsudski's name is not spelled the same way twice. There's been Pitsudski, Piłudski, Piisudski, Piłcudski, Piłeudski, Piteudski, Pifcudski, and my personal favourite, Pftsudski... You just gotta admire the editor's creativity :-D

ETA: ROTFALMAO! When I said history's fun I wasn't kidding - apparently when the first world war broke out the Tsar issued a moving manifesto to the Poles hoping to gain Polish military support. He even went as far as to publish it in Polish instead of Russian. Now, if only the Polish flag on the posters with the manifesto wasn't upside down... Of course, considering that Polish military forces at the time consisted of cavalrymen carrying saddles on their heads in hopes of capturing horses from the enemy, the Tsar didn't lose much, did he ;-)
