A ferret? Just because that's what Crouch turned him into? Nah. Although it is an interesting concept, that you could influence what your animagus form would be by transfiguring yourself into an animal of choice first, hmm. Coming back to Draco, I always imagined him to be a white greyhound, because Sirius was a dog, but Draco'd be a more noble and pointed breed ;-) Now I'm very taken with the wolf idea, though. It'd be just so ironic ;-)
The more I think about the animagus immunity, the more it makes sense - wasn't that why the marauders turned themselves into animagi in the first place? So that they could keep Remus's company? He didn't have the Wolfsbane back then, so he was just a bloodthirsty werewolf, why would they think they'd be safe around him in animal form if it didn't make them immune? James as animagus wasn't even a predator, after all.
