I've said it once and I'm gonna say it again - there is no better way to spend a Friday evening than chatting about Draco while sipping vaguely alcoholic drinks :nods: Particularly when you're chatting with melusinahp, son_of_darkness and waterbird. theladymarauder,joosetta along with her sister, pitchblackrose and naughtyhouseelf were also present, but unfortunately I didn't get to talk to them much. Still, I had the best time :-) I only wish I could attend Snape's pub Fridays more often :sigh:

I other news, I've finally learnt what the infamous Cassie Claire wank was all about. Huh. Now what I'd like to know is how an apparently gen (or did it get slashy later on?) story became so massively popular that it shaped fanon for years. It's one of those 'you had to be there to understand' things, isn't it? :scratches head:

You didn't miss much, by not talking to us. Mostly what we were yelling about down at the other end of the table was how someone should write a Very Angry Letter to the manager of the place, since the music was so fucking loud that YOU COULDN'T HEAR PEOPLE FROM ACROSS THE TABLE :p

And I stand by my former judgement about your hair colour :) It still looks great :)

You know, I've starting reading that fic about four or five times and, for whatever reason, got distracted and never finished it. I'll have to give it a real go, now.

I loved the story because Draco's characterisation is unconventionally canon, and because it is very well-written overall. It doesn't have a particularly gripping plot, though, so I can see how it'd be easy to be distracted from finishing it.

Hard liquor, eh? I need to introduce you to Żubrówka one of these days :-)

I think the only reason Cassie was as popular as she was is because a) most of her readers were American and thus unfamiliar with Blackadder, Red Dwarf, etc. and thus thought the best lines were in fact hers, and b) there wasn't a lot else to read in those days...

Hmm, I guess that makes sense - I'm a sucker for humour myself, so I guess I would have read it even though it wasn't slash, particularly if slash were difficult to find.

Friday night was fun. Thanks for the link to that fic; I'll check it out.

The Draco Trilogy was one of the earliest 'classics' and one of the first fics I started following when I first got into the fandom four and a half years ago. I had never seen Buffy (yes, I have spent most of my life on another planet) and wasn't familiar with the other sources CC quoted from, so I had no clue that such large parts of it were borrowed.

I still enjoyed the series - there are a lot of things about it that make it a good story - but, as a reader, I do feel disappointed and a bit cheated, you know?

Shh, I've been catching up on Buffy and Angel via an online DVD rental over the last year, just so I'd know what everyone is talking about, because I don't enjoy either show all that much :-)

I can totally understand feeling cheated, especially if you enjoyed the humorous lines. As for the story being good, hmm, I suppose an interesting enough plot could explain such a wide appeal of the Trilogy, particularly when there was not much else to read :nods: Thanks for your reply!
