...it's no wonder that his name means "beauty"...
Just a week ago I was bemoaning to
maggie33 the fact that I didn't really have any new film to look forward in the near future and then I came across a blurb about Babylon AD. OMFG, Vin Diesel and David Belle in the same sf film?! It's not even my birthday yet! I have to admit I am slightly concerned that David's character is called "Kid with Tatoos", because the last time his character had similarly descriptive name he was the "French Cop" in Femme Fatale and his job was to stand in the background and look pretty for the 15 seconds he was on the screen (WTF was that all about, BTW? Was there a deleted scene with David scaling the building and jumping onto the balcony to punch Antonio Banderas for taking unsolicited photos of Rebecca Romijn?). I remain optimistic, though, because surely Mathieu Kassovitz would know and appreciate what he has more than Brian de Palma did. Also, the fact the tattoos are specifically mentioned means he'll be topless, because they're all on his upper body, and so I don't terribly mind the circumstances under which I'll be seeing them ;-)
Heh, checking out David Belle's IMDB page has blown my mind quite a bit - apparently he did stunt work for Crimson Rivers 2: Angels of the Apocalypse. So those freaky jumping ninja/monk things were not in fact CGI, they were David Belle! Now I feel bad for laughing myself silly when they were revealed to be human after all at the end of the film...
Also, thank God for YouTube. Here's one of the gems I was able to find there:
BBC1 FTW!
